City of Fairfax School Board Representative Aashray Manchanda Participates in Student Panel with Virginia Senator Tim Kaine on Importance of Voting
Aashray Manchanda, the student representative for the City of Fairfax School Board participated in a roundtable discussion with other Fairfax County Public School students on the importance of voting on Thursday, September 17, 2020 which was Constitution Day.
The City of Fairfax invited all school-aged students in the city to design the "I Voted" and "Future Voter" stickers to be used in the November presidential election. Nathan Ferns, Fairfax, designed the winning “I Voted” sticker, and Sager Clementine Worshek, Fairfax, designed the winning “Future Voter” sticker.
Board will accept suggestions for new name through Friday.
The Board will vote on if to change the name on Monday, September 14 at 7:30 PM.
Bennett Brabrand, Samuel Littman, and Matthew Shin are eligible to compete for 7,600 National Merit Scholarship awards worth more than $30 million, to be awarded in spring 2021.

Sienna Williams was the first place winner for high school students in the Northeastern Region. Artwork will be displayed in the Virginia Secretary of Education offices.
It is unfortunate that not all avenues were exhausted and funds were not available to try to provide the two day option that many of our parents requested for their children earlier this month. I do support Dr. Brabrand, the FCPS Board and the FCPS staff on their tireless work in this unprecedented time. I know his decision comes from working with health providers on what is best for Northern Virginia.
