Daniels Run Elementary School (DRES), a PK–6 elementary school located in the City of Fairfax, was established in 2001 through the consolidation of Green Acres and Layton Hall Elementary Schools.
At DRES, our mission is to develop better people. We celebrate and embrace the cultural and ethnic diversity of our families, fostering collaboration with our supportive PTA. The PTA plays a vital role in organizing special events, family fun nights, assemblies, and before- and after-school programs. Our Family Resource Center warmly welcomes new families while providing resources and support to parents and volunteers. A caring culture rooted in teamwork, individual effort, positivity, and respect is central to daily life at Daniels Run. As a proud Positivity Project school, we focus on the whole child, ensuring they can thrive both in and out of the classroom.
Our vision at Daniels Run Elementary is to provide all children with a strong academic foundation aligned with the FCPS Portrait of a Graduate. Technology is integrated throughout the school, allowing students to deepen their understanding and engagement with learning. As a professional learning community, our staff engages in ongoing professional development, sharing expertise and incorporating best teaching practices to support student success.
DRES is proud of its exceptional fine and performing arts, guidance, and physical education programs. We also provide culturally rich learning opportunities through field trips, guest presenters, assemblies, and special events, ensuring a well-rounded educational experience for every student.
