Capital Improvement Projects Update

All construction project dates are tentative and subject to change. While we strive to complete projects on schedule and within budget, factors such as weather, delays in related projects, permitting, and other unforeseen issues may affect timelines.
Current and Future Project Updates
The Blenheim Boulevard Multimodal Improvement Project near Fairfax High School and Daniels Run Elementary is managed by the City of Fairfax Transportation and Public Works Departments. For project details and updates, please visit the City of Fairfax website.
All Schools:
- Facilities Condition Assessment - In the summer and fall of 2023, the City of Fairfax contracted to have a Facilities Condition Assessment, a report of the status of all school facilities. To see the report, please see our website.
Fairfax High School:
1. Concession Stand (outdoor): Completed October 2024.
2. FHS Press Box: Completed spring 2025.
3. FHS AutoTech Room: New lighting installed in September 2024. New flooring installed in the summer of 2025.
4. Outdoor Classroom: Construction has begun in September 2025, expected completion January 2026.
5. Scoreboard: Installed July 2025.
6. Trail behind tennis courts: Repaired July 2025.
Potential New Projects:
Old Concession Stand – Renovate and update restrooms to serve current needs. Getting estimates in July 2025. Pending funding based on estimates.

Softball field replacement - Working with school and vendors about possible grass replacement or turf.
Katherine Johnson MS
1. Kutner Park Turf Field (joint project with City of Fairfax Parks and Recreation)
This project is currently under the City of Fairfax city council and parks and recreation department.
2. Weapons Detection System: FCPS is installing weapons detection systems in all high schools and middle schools. Project potentially coming to KJMS in the 2025-2026 school year.
3. Weight Room/Fitness Room: Completed summer 2024.
4. Outdoor Classroom: Completed spring 2025.
5. Security Cameras: Completed summer 2025.
Providence ES/Daniels Run ES
1. Security Cameras at Elementary School: Completed spring 2025.
2. DRES Vestibule: Completed October 2025.
3. Providence ES Vestibule: Scheduled to be completed fall 2026.
