The City of Fairfax School Board unanimously elected Carolyn Pitches as chair and Amit Hickman as vice chair during its annual organizational meeting, marking the board’s first meeting of Fiscal Year 2026-2027.
The board also appointed Barbara King to continue serving as clerk of the board.
In addition to electing officers, the board named citizen representatives to Fairfax County Public Schools advisory committees and appointed board members to serve on various community committees, including the Environmental Sustainability Committee and the Parks and Recreation Advisory Board.
The board also approved employee contracts as part of the meeting’s annual organizational business.
The City of Fairfax School Board holds its organizational meeting each year to establish leadership roles and committee assignments for the year ahead.
