Fairfax High School’s Dr. Georgina Aye Named The Washington Post 2026 Principal of the Year
Fairfax High School Principal Dr. Georgina Aye has been named The Washington Post 2026 Principal of the Year, a prestigious regional honor recognizing outstanding school leaders across Washington, D.C., Maryland and Virginia.
Dr. Aye joined Fairfax High School in 2022 and quickly became known for her energy, authenticity and deep commitment to building a strong school community. In its profile, The Washington Post highlighted the “sparkle” Dr. Aye brings to Fairfax High School, both literally and figuratively, through her school spirit, student-centered leadership and belief that every student and staff member should feel seen, supported and valued.
Since joining Fairfax High School, Dr. Aye has led with heart and purpose. She has helped strengthen academic achievement, expand opportunities for students and create meaningful supports, including Saturday School, SAT prep opportunities and English language classes for parents. She has also focused on rebuilding school culture through student celebrations, hallway displays, school spirit events and a visible presence at concerts, athletic events and student activities.

Superintendent Dr. Dustin Wright also praised Dr. Aye’s impact on the Fairfax High School community.
