Statement from City of Fairfax School Board

On behalf of the City of Fairfax School Board from Chair Carolyn Pitches.

"The City of Fairfax School Board joins our Fairfax High School (FHS) community in expressing frustration and disappointment that the investigation into the FHS football program has not come to a resolution. We respect due process and the legal confidentiality that applies to personnel matters. At the same time, due process must include timeliness and clear communication to the fullest extent permitted.

This prolonged uncertainty is hurting our students and community. It is disrupting stability and planning at Fairfax High School and creating ripple effects across staffing and student programs, including activities that require early hiring and preparation. Students, staff, and families deserve clarity and closure so the school community can move forward.

We urge Fairfax County Public Schools to bring this process to a conclusion as soon as possible and to share a clear path forward within legal limits. Our focus is—and must remain—on the wellbeing of students and the strength of our school community."
