City of Fairfax School Board Unanimously Approves FY 2027 Budget

At its regular meeting last night, the City of Fairfax School Board unanimously approved the FY 2027 budget.

FY 2027 Budget: By the Numbers

  • Total approved budget: $79,386,084

  • September 2025 Student Membership: 2,942

  • FCPS tuition: $73,754,574

  • Operating costs: $1,274,429

  • Debt service: $4,337,081

  • School Supplemental & Instructional Funds (go directly to schools): $285,000

  • Next steps: Joint work session with City Council — March 3

Budget overview

City of Fairfax Schools serves City students through a long-standing partnership with Fairfax County Public Schools (FCPS). As a result, the largest portion of the City of Fairfax Schools budget reflects FCPS tuition for educating City students.

Direct support to schools

Within the FY 2027 budget, $285,000 in School Supplemental & Instructional Funds goes directly to schools to support students and learning.
