City of Fairfax School Board Presents Janice Miller Scholarship to Isabella Jackson

A member of four honor societies, VHSL state acting award winner, Brandon Dixon Victor award nominee and two-time Cappies best acting nominee Isabella Jackson is the 2023 recipient of the City of Fairfax School Board Janice Miller Scholarship. Jackson will attend Ball State University to study musical theatre.

Presented by Dan Phillips, assistant to the superintendent for the City of Fairfax Schools, Jackson received the scholarship at the 2023 Fairfax High School Senior Awards on Friday, June 2. “There is not enough time to highlight all of Isabella’s accomplishments in her time at Fairfax High School,” said Phillips. “We wish her well in her pursuits of musical theatre and we hope she remembers us when we try to buy tickets to see her on Broadway.”

Fairfax HS theater teacher Chris Whitney described Jackson in a senior profile. “Isabella is always prepared and has a strong work ethic. She is talented, kind, and leads by example. She can stand up to any challenge and is able to make the most complex roles look easy. Watching her perform is a beautiful thing.

The Janice Miller / City of Fairfax School Board Scholarship is named for Janice Miller. Miller served on the City of Fairfax School Board for almost three decades. The $2000 scholarship was established to honor the many years of dedication, service and leadership she provided to our community, and to assist a deserving young person on our community.
