Three City of Fairfax teachers have achieved or renewed certification from the National Board for Professional Teaching Standards

Three City of Fairfax teachers have achieved or renewed certification from the National Board for Professional Teaching Standards (NBPTS).

Michelle McCarten, music education teacher from Daniels Run Elementary School is a newly certified National Board teacher. Dayle Ranallo from Katherine Johnson Middle School and Lisa Greeves Fairfax High School renewed their board certification for an additional term.

National Board Certification is the most respected professional certification available in education and provides numerous benefits to teachers, students and schools. It was designed to develop, retain and recognize accomplished teachers and to generate ongoing improvement in schools nationwide.

Initial certification and renewal of National Board Certification asks teachers to compile and submit a portfolio that documents their high-quality instruction and ability to differentiate, as well as demonstrates how their practices continue to align with the Five Core Propositions of Accomplished Teaching in their certificate area.
