At its meeting on September 9, 2025, the City of Fairfax City Council approved contracts with Moseley, Incorporated and Architecture, Incorporated to provide architectural design, engineering, and construction management services for the City’s two elementary schools—Daniels Run Elementary School and Providence Elementary School.
The contracts represent the first phase of planned renovations and additions at both schools, a major step in the City of Fairfax Schools’ ongoing effort to ensure all students learn in modern, safe, and inspiring environments.
“Moseley and Architecture, Inc. each bring extensive experience in educational design,” said Acting Superintendent Dan Phillips. “We are excited to begin collaborating with our staff, teachers, students, and community members to create schools that support learning today and well into the future.”
Through a competitive process, the City received 19 proposals for the project, ultimately selecting two firms following a detailed review and interview process. Moseley, Incorporated will lead the design for Daniels Run Elementary School, while Architecture, Incorporated will oversee Providence Elementary School.
Over the next several months, both firms will work closely with City Schools staff, the School Board, and community members to develop design concepts tailored to the unique needs of each school. Community engagement meetings will begin later this fall and continue into 2026, providing opportunities for families, staff, and residents to share input on priorities and design ideas.
Funding for the design and engineering phase is included in the City’s Fiscal Year 2026 budget, with combined expenses not to exceed $3 million.
