City of Fairfax School Board Begins 2021-2022 Term

The City of Fairfax School Board began its 2021-2022 school year at a Special School Board Meeting on Thursday, July 8, 2021. Carolyn Pitches will remain as School Board Chairman and Dr. Mitch Sutterfield will continue as School Board Vice Chairman.

The School Board also named its citizen representatives to Fairfax County Public Schools (FCPS) committees. Those nominations are:

  • Brenda Silvia Torma to the Health Advisory Committee
  • Kate Hermann to the Facilities and Planning Advisory Committee
  • Darcy Acquavella to the Advisory Committee for Students with Disabilities
  • Amy Chase to the Advanced Academic Programs Advisory Committee

The City of Fairfax School Board traditionally meets on the first Monday of the month for their Regular School Board meetings at 7:30 p.m. at City Hall. These meetings are streamed live on the City of Fairfax website and on cable channel 12. The Board also traditionally meets on the third Monday for their work session. The work sessions are usually held within a City school building.

The Board also approved the School Board Adjusted Budget and Adjusted Capital Improvement Plan. The budget made adjustments to return to pre-COVID levels and included updated to school staff contracts.

The next regular school board meeting will be Monday, September 13, 2021 at 7:30 p.m. at City Hall.
