Welcome Back from Dr. Phyllis Pajardo, Superintendent of the City of Fairfax Schools.

Hello to the City of Fairfax Schools Community.
My name is Dr. Phyllis Pajardo and I am the Superintendent of the City of Fairfax Schools. If this is your first year in our schools, I would like to welcome you on behalf of the City of Fairfax. 
It is my honor to serve the 5000 students from both the city and county in our four schools from Pre K through high school graduation. Our goal is to create a safe environment for students to not only learn, but to thrive. I know this year will look much differently than any year in our past. In my 35 years in education I have never seen such challenges as I have with the COVID-19 pandemic. 
Our City School Board and staff are working hard with Fairfax County Public Schools to open this year virtually. Our teachers and administrators are some of the best in the region and I know they are dedicating their time and energy to ensure we exceed the educational needs of your child.  
In the City of Fairfax Schools we have much to be proud of. Over the past few months I have seen great moments of strength and resilience. I have seen our city school community assist in donating food and books to our most vulnerable families. I have worked with Fairfax City leaders to provide child care for essential workers in our city. I have watched our teachers change and adapt so they can reach their students in this new virtual learning environment. I know there have been significant bumps along the way, but I am, as always hopeful and encouraged as we begin a new year.  I believe in our schools, our staff and of course, I believe in our students. 
Our staff and board is here to answer any questions or concerns you may have. Please reach out and contact us if we can help. I wish you all a safe and productive school year and want to thank you for being a part of our City of Fairfax School community.
