Superintendent Search Information and Timeline

On Monday, March 7, 2022, Dr. Phyllis Pajardo announced her retirement with her last day as June 30. To see the annoucement, please see here.

The City of Fairfax School Board hired Ann Monday, a former City Superintendent who has experience in superintendent searches, to facilitate the search.

On Monday, May 2, 2022 Carolyn Pitches, Chair of City of Fairfax School Board announced the Board has extended an offer to Jeff Platenberg for the position of superintendent. On Monday, May 16, the City of Fairfax School Board voted to approve Mr. Platenberg's four year contract.

A timeline for the search is as follows:

March 8 - 28	Community Input Survey
March 22	Virtual meeting from 2:00 - 3:30 and 7:00 - 8:30. Log In information below.

April 11	Report by Ms. Monday to School Board regarding community input and desired characteristics for new superintendent at Regular School Board Meeting. To see the presentation, please see here.
April 25 -29	Candidate Interviews
May	Announcement of new superintendent - see here for announcement
May 16	City of Fairfax School Board approved the contract for Jeff Platenberg to become superintendent.
June 30	Dr. Pajardo's last day
July 1	Jeff Platenberg begins
